The Friends of the Piedmont Avenue Branch Library was
formed in 1993 when our library was facing budget cuts and possible
closure. We have continued to work for the Piedmont Avenue Branch
Library reaching out to the community to advocate for our and
other Oakland libraries.
With donations and proceeds of book
sales we fund the Children’s Summer Reading Program, LGBT
collection, DVD collection, magazine and newspaper subscriptions
and community outreach programs.
If
you wish to make a donation to the Piedmont Avenue Branch Library,

Our Library Hours, Events & Programs

Our library is a vital resource and community
hub.
Please join the Friends to support our beloved
library and to be involved in a long term solution by going to

Us page.
Michelle Rosenthal is Our New Librarian
As you know, our friend and Branch Manager since July, Pat Toney has moved into her new position as the children’s outreach librarian in Oakland, and now we are welcoming Michelle Rosenthal, MLIS. As of April 3rd, Michelle moved from manager of the Lakeview Branch to be the Branch Manager for Piedmont Avenue. She brings ten years of experience, five as Branch Manager at both Melrose and Lakeview. We are especially lucky to have her with us because she knows our neighborhood and is passionate about providing a wide access to services at our libraries. Outreach is one of her top priorities.
Before she became a librarian, she said that she used the Piedmont Avenue Branch Library at its 42nd St location. We expect her to be a wonderful advocate for a new permanent branch.
When you meet Michelle, ask her about Bells & Chimes, her team in the Women’s Pinball (yes, pinball!) League. |
